Exciting changes ahead

We recently joined the Tāmaki Health network and in November will proudly become White Cross Normans Road. While our name is changing, our clinic team will remain the same, led by Dr Api, Dr Helen and Dr Kris, delivering the same high-quality healthcare the community knows so well.

White Cross has been a trusted healthcare provider in Aotearoa New Zealand since 1988, supporting communities through its network of GP and urgent care clinics across Whangārei, Auckland and Palmerston North. Since establishing in Ōtautahi Christchurch in 2025, White Cross has grown to include practices in New Brighton, Greers Road, Shirley and Aranui. We are proud to join the team as Christchurch’s fifth White Cross clinic and look forward to continuing this legacy of caring for our local community.  There are many benefits for our clinic and our patients once we join the White Cross network including:

  • Access to a shared network of care including Wellness Support services, and Specialist Nurse Clinics for e.g., diabetes and heart health.
  • Access to after-hours care at Riccarton Clinic in Christchurch, at the enrolled patient price. Available after 5pm and on weekends.
  • More affordable urgent care when you’re away from home – visit any White Cross Urgent Care clinic nationwide (currently in Whangārei, Auckland, Palmerston North), and you’ll only pay the enrolled patient price for that service.
  • Access to online GP care 365 days a year – Bettr.co.nz is the online GP service from White Cross. Consultations are just $45 for an adult and free for under 14yrs, with same-day appointments typically available. It’s available for everyone and ideal for non-urgent health concerns such as colds, flu, infections, prescriptions, and medical certificates.

About our clinic

Normans Road Surgery is a safe place for everybody. We offer both phone and face-to-face appointments, and keep everyone safe and well by abiding by the following practices:

  • Our standard appointments are 15 minutes duration. If you need more time than this for your appointment, please advise reception at time of booking.
  • If you have paperwork for any type of medical, it is helpful to have the patient portion completed prior to your appointment.
  • Please wear a face mask while attending an appointment if you have a cough, cold, sore throat, fever or any respiratory symptoms.
  • Please use the hand sanitizer provided when you enter the surgery. 
  • If you prefer, for your own protection, you are welcome to wait in your car or outside while waiting for your appointment. Please let us know if you wish to do this at the time of making your appointment.

Prescriptions

If you require a prescription, please email your request to reception@normansroadsurgery.co.nz, clearly stating which medication you require and which pharmacy you would like it sent to. Please allow 48 hours before collecting.

Patients who are enrolled under Dr Kris Yee can email Dr Yee at Kris@normansroadsurgery.co.nz for prescriptions.

Test Results

All test results will be reviewed by your GP. If the results are significantly abnormal, you will receive a phone call or text from Normans Rd Surgery for further review. Patients will not routinely be contacted if their test results are normal, however you are welcome to email (nurse@normansrd.pegasus.net.nz) or call the practice and check if your results have been received and what they are. If you have further concerns, we suggest you make an appointment to see your GP.

ADHD prescribing

As part of the recent changes, specialist and trained GPs will are now permitted to initiate an ADHD diagnosis and begin ADHD medication after a full assessment. At this time, none of our GPs at our clinic have the specialist training or experience required, however we can now you to someone within the Tāmaki Health network for this or offer referrals to other external providers of these services. In addition, we can:

  • Ensure you are placed on the correct referral pathways for ADHD assessment and initiation
  • Provide guidance around local community and support groups
  • Continue prescribing your ADHD medication for enrolled patients, once a specialist has started and stabilised your treatment
